You're close enough to other towns to take in some of the festivities such as in Stuart there are the apple dumpling festival, the strawberry festival, the Beach Music Festival, and the Patrick County Fair. In Floyd there's always music going on in some form or fashion. Although it's not in Virginia, but a nearby place of interest is Mt. Airy, North Carolina that many refer to as Mayberry USA.
